Precisely Otherwise is a three-movement immersive work made for a specific city each time. The first movement watches how the city accelerates. The second movement sits inside what remains slow, a tradition, a ritual, a form of attention not yet optimized away. The third asks what digital efficiency might do with that slowness: not replace it, not preserve it, but think alongside it. Each edition belongs to its place. The series is currently being proposed to contexts in Japan, Taiwan, and China. Development correspondence is welcome via the Collaborate page.

Thinking of you/ Whiskered Pitta (2015) Fixed Media click to watch On Sundays, city parks become gathering spaces for domestic helpers—visible for a moment, yet often unseen in society. This collaboration by Priscila Chu and Man-chun asks: who are they, and what stories do they hold? Through conversations, fragments of lived experiences surfaced, often shared with hesitation. Rather than revealing identities, the artists translate these stories into sound and image. Priscila’s composition draws on the whiskered pitta—a rare, elusive bird from the Philippines—as an analogy. Layering bird-like sonic textures with traces of the helpers’ present environments in Hong Kong, the work moves between concealment and expression. Man-chun’s abstract visuals mirror these dual realities of presence and invisibility. Presented as a performance, the work pays tribute to those who sustain everyday life yet remain overlooked—inviting audiences to listen more closely to what is heard, and what remains just beyond reach. Pseudo Food (2019) Music Theater / Interactive Installation / Animated Video click to watch click to watch Pseudo Food explores the phenomenon of information authenticity and food choice behaviour. The audience experiences sound, spatial design, and food design in a devised theatre setting; moving through three stages with staggered entry, so the experience flows continuously for each participant. Stage One: Audiences receive headphones and encounter an information board mixing truths and hearsay about strawberries. The music and lyrics introduce the theme of making choices amid overwhelming information. Stage Two: Led by an actor, they choose between two menu experiences, Techno Twist or Quaint Delight. Stage Three: A violinist creates a restaurant atmosphere as a drink reveals the truth behind the information. The work sits at the intersection of information overload, sensory experience, and the gap between what we are told and what is true. Transformation (2023) Video click to watch This work began with Vivian Ting's research into the shifting landscape of a particular corner of Hong Kong across time. A collection of postcards documenting these changes became the seed of a wider inquiry — into the city's development, and into the legends and myths layered beneath it. From this shared foundation, the three collaborators developed a triangular, reiterative creative process in which each discipline continuously informed and reshaped the others. Wong Sin Han created an initial animation that sparked both the musical composition and a series of prose works. The music in turn shaped the animation's pacing and texture; a character from the prose deepened its narrative; and throughout, music and writing moved in dialogue, gradually settling into a shared tone for the final work. The result is an invitation to encounter a familiar place differently — to hold its visible transformation alongside the stories that history does not always surface. Cumulus (2024) Electroacoustic, Ensemble click to watch Cumulus began as a response to a Chinese ink painting — an attempt to translate into sound the quality of brushwork that moves freely across space, lands where it chooses, and finds meaning in the encounter rather than the plan. The music explores space and freedom: notes that fly, settle briefly against another timbre or colour, hold for a moment, and move again. Like ink on paper, nothing is forced into place. The score was selected by the Atlanta Contemporary Ensemble, who brought their own choreographic and visual collaborators to the work independently. What emerged is a different kind of collaboration — one where each artist contributed their full creative autonomy rather than a shared compromise. The result is a chemistry that only arises when no one is trying to control the whole. Composed by Priscila Chu Visual art by Krista M. Working from the artists' research materials, process documentation, and finished works, Priscila composed responses that move between different entry points — paint style and humour in Pandora, layered colour and image-building in Glaze, material and method in Current, brushstroke and atmosphere in Cumulus, form and physical material in Aglow, and concept and content in 2022. The result is a sonic exhibition running alongside the visual one — six ways of listening to Hong Kong landscape.
